Means Jobs Office - If you are unemployed or underemployed you may be eligible to have this

and other STG courses paid for through this program.  Contact your local Ohio Means Jobs Office.

​PSA-040 Curriculum Effective 01 Jul 2023

​​Students who wish to enroll in the PSA certification course must meet the course prerequisites and provide evidence the following:

 

• Ability to Read, Write and Understand the English Language

• Be at least 18 years of age at the time of acceptance into the Academy​

• Review the Statement of Understanding to ensure eligibility to participate in the training

 

​NOTE: A domestic violence or any conviction of a lesser offense or where the original charge was domestic violence will prevent a student from taking the optional firearms certification or persons having a weapons disability shall not participate in the optional firearms certification portion of the Private Security Academy.   [Ohio Revised Code 2912.13]​

Students who are accepted for enrollment in the Private Security Academy may select the additional options:​

 

• Optional Physical Training (PT) - FREE PT Uniform​​

• Optional Non-Lethal Training in OC Chemical Aerosol, Impact Weapons, Defensive Tactics with Handcuffing​​

• Optional OPOTC 20 Hour Private Security Handgun Certification​

• Optional OPOTC 5 Hour Private Security Shotgun Certification

​Starting Salary Range - $31,200 - $37,000.00​

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 3.4% employment growth for security guards between 2021 and 2031. In that period, an estimated 37,200 jobs should open up. Security guards or officers protect people or property from harm, such as theft or vandalism.

• ​Private Security Certification Course without Firearms - 124 Hours - $1,750.00 - Regular $3,400.00

• Private Security Certification Course with Non-Lethal Package - 146 Hours - $1,950.00 - Regular $3,600.00

• Private Security Certification Course with Non-Lethal & Firearms - 166 Hours - $2,250.00 - Regular $3,900.00

 

*Interest free payment plan available to all students.  Low Non-Refundable Deposit Required ($500.00).  Any balance due must be paid prior to the last day of the Academy. 

 

Cadets are provided with the following as part of the fee:

 

• Quality Nylon Duty Rig with Belt, Baton Holder, OC Holder, Radio Holder, (4) Keepers, Glove Holder, Flashlight Holder, Handcuff Holder

• Course Materials​ - Cadet Notebook with Student Performance Objectives (SPOs) Materials

• Academy Uniforms [2 Cadet Polos & 2 PT Uniforms]

• American Red Cross Certification

• Job Placement Assistance
